7 11 Craps
The clue 'Seven and eleven, in craps' was last spotted by us at the LA Times Crossword on June 14 2020.
Some Craps players refer to don’t passline bets as “betting wrong,” and consequently, a passline bet is called “betting right.” When you make a passline bet, you are betting to roll a 7 or 11 on the first roll, which would result in a win on that bet. But when you make a don’t passline bet, you are betting to roll a. If the 11 shows, you win $7.50 because of the 15:1 payoff (i.e., $0.50 multiplied by 15 = $7.50). But the other half of the $1 chip is on the “C,” which in this case is a loser because a 12, 3, or 2 didn’t appear. So, the stickman must subtract $0.50 from the $7.50 that you won for the 11. $7.50 – $0.50 = $7.00.

The any seven craps bet, also known as big red, is perhaps the most popular and well known wager in the game of craps. Basically all you are doing is betting that the shooter will roll a 7 on the next roll. Recall that the number 7 is the most frequent and probable number to appear when the dice are rolled so your odds of landing it are fairly. There is no way to profitably cover or hedge an established Pass line wager. Sure you can make a lay bet larger than the point (twice as large if a 4 or 10, 1.5x larger if a 5 or 9, and 1.2x larger if a 6 or 8, and this WILL minimize the amount lost, but it will also ensure a small loss.
